Scarlett Faith Brooks arrived into this world on February 12, 2015 at 4:12am, weighing 9 pounds and 2.9oz. and was 21 1/4 inches long. In just a little over 1 month of her precious life, I have learned so much about being a Mommy. But even more, I’ve learned so much about God’s love for me. This sweet gift that The Lord blessed Seth and I with has been such a joy. She is such a great baby. She doesn’t fuss very often. She loves to cuddle, loves bath time, and smiles a lot. I never knew my heart could hold so much love. The love I have for this little human is unexplainable.
From day one, God has shown His matchless love for me through her. I really don’t know how to explain it. But I do know this, God is good and I will praise Him for allowing me to be her mommy. Psalm 127:3 says “Children are a gift from The Lord, they are a reward from Him.” I don’t know what I did to earn this sweet reward, but I am so thankful. I only hope and pray I will be the Mommy that this little girl deserves and needs.
Seth and I have enjoyed this little girl so much. On the day she was born, Seth’s parents came to El Paso to meet her. About 5 days later, my parents came to meet her. After that, we had about 5 days just the three of us before heading to Georgia for my cousin’s wedding. We were in Georgia for a week and then Seth had to leave to go build right when we got back home. He’s been building for the last couple of weeks. And I know he misses us both. In a way, it’s kind of hard because we haven’t gotten to be our own little family, just the 3 of us, really since she was born. It’s spring break time here at Casas por Cristo. So, Seth has to build in Mexico just about every week, pretty much through the end of May.
As much as we miss him here at home, I am so proud of the great example of selflessness, sacrifice, and love Seth shows. Not only to us, but to the sweet, precious people of Juarez, Mexico. There is such a great need these people have. They need shelter and warmth, but most of all, they need to hear the Good News. Seth LOVES his job. His dream of sharing Christ with others and working with his hands has become a reality for him. I miss building with him, but I love staying home with my girl. We hope to get Scarlett a passport soon so we can go visit Seth while he’s building! We want her to grow up knowing that the luxuries we have here aren’t typical throughout the world.
If you are interested in coming to build with us, sharing the gospel, and serving the people of Juarez, PLEASE let me know. There are some teams that are coming to build with us this year that don’t have enough team members and you would definitely be used! Thank you all for your prayers for our little family and for our work here on the border!
Much love from us to you!
