ground

Breaking the ground so we could lay the foundation.

Hey there. As I sit here in our new house, quietly,  listening to the thunderstorm outside with rain pouring down, I am reminded of how amazing our Lord is. Tomorrow we celebrate Resurrection Day. I am just in awe of how much the Savior loves me. 1 John 3:16 says, “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us.” But, the incredible story doesn’t end there. In 3 days, he rose again and defeated the grave! Praise God. I serve a living God. My God’s not dead, He’s surely alive!

Some of you may be wondering what Seth and I have been up to the past couple weeks. Well, we bought a house, moved out of our apartment into the new house, and have been busy fixing the place up. And this past week, we were able to build with a team who is very special to us. We built with a group of about 19 people from Living Water Baptist Church in Hendersonville, NC. Last year around this time, we came to Juarez on a mission trip with this group not knowing what the Lord had in store for us. So, this week we celebrated our 1st anniversary Casas build with Living Water. It’s always a blast to build with people that we know and it was neat to see how far we’ve come in this ministry already.

Pouring the concrete foundation.

We had the honor of building a home for Ivan, his sisters, Catherine and Lupita, his nieces, Zoe and Valeria, and his mother Marta. This build was extra special because Ivan and Catherine were out there everyday helping out with the construction and working very hard. It’s not a very common occurrence for the family we build for to jump in and help build their home. Usually they are at work or inside their existing home with the children, cooking or cleaning, or just watching us build. So, it was such a blessing to have them there helping out. I had to cross back into El Paso Wednesday afternoon and I missed the dedication, but Seth was able to stay there with the team and he said the family was so excited to receive their home.

Seth and I are building in Acuna, Mexico next week with a group from Venture Church. We are looking forward to that. Seth’s birthday is next week as well, so we will be celebrating there in Acuna.

Oh! And in case you were wondering, I have gotten involved with the music ministry at our church here. Right now I am singing in the choir. After I have an audition, I will be able to sing on the praise team. I am loving that and really loving being able to sing again. Oh how I have missed it!

Well, I wanted to give you all a quick update and let you know that we are doing great. Thank you so much for your constant prayers and gracious support. I know I say it every time, but without it, we couldn’t do this ministry that we love. So, thank you. Have a wonderful Easter. Remember what this day is all about. Our Savior who conquered death and is alive!
